Uche Sparks Dominant Crystal Palace Triumph at Irish Side Shelbourne.
Despite embarking on their maiden European campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are adapting at a rapid pace. Without key figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a comfortable result that virtually guarantees them a spot in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.
A further victory in their next match against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to secure straight passage to the knockout stages, particularly after a prior setback against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Seize the Moment
This occasion provided a platform for some of Palace's fringe talent to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second start since joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a second, finding the net for the second game in succession.
The Shelbourne team that had finished their league season proved outmatched even for a largely rotated Palace outfit. The Londoners were already weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee problems.
Control Asserted from the Start
In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly took control. A flowing move in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward finish.
Youngster Adam Wharton came close soon after, driving a long-range effort over the bar. Nketiah then claimed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the referee waved away the appeals.
The formerArsenal striker did not have wait long to get his goal, prodding home from close range after Uche's effort had hit the post.
Shelbourne were clinging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for two agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a header from a corner.

The contest was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, but saw his effort blocked.
Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also missed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still scope for development in his game.
The only concern for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect night for the traveling side.
